Background and Aims: The rapid advancement of digital technology has necessitated the adaptation of student support system management to improve operational efficiency, align with the context of educational institutions, and comprehensively enhance student quality. The objectives of this research were to: (1) examine the components, problem conditions, best-practice administrative processes, and guidelines for administering the student care and support system; (2) develop an administrative model for the student care and support system in the digital era using the 7A Model to enhance student quality; and (3) evaluate the developed model for schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Uthai Thani–Chai Nat.
Methodology: This study employed a research and development (R&D) design following an exploratory sequential mixed-methods approach, conducted in three phases. Phase 1 comprised (a) a synthesis of 11 core documentary sources underpinning the six components reported in Table 1; (b) a census-oriented survey targeting 68 school-level representatives one administrator and one teacher responsible for the student care and support system from each of the 34 schools; (c) documentary analysis of two best-practice cases represented in the findings (SMART STCI Model and PHOHAK Model); and (d) a focus-group discussion with nine purposively selected experts . Phase 2 constructed the model and its user manual and examined them through a connoisseurship seminar of nine experts purposively selected for expertise in educational administration, student care and support systems, and digital technology, with substantial relevant professional experience. Phase 3 used a document-based user evaluation of the model’s feasibility and utility; no field implementation was undertaken. The target evaluator pool comprised the 68 school-level representatives from the 34 schools, All quantitative instruments were designed as five-point rating scales and were subjected to content-validity and reliability checks before use; the acceptance criteria were IOC ≥ 0.50 and Cronbach’s α ≥ 0.70. Qualitative data were analysed by content analysis and quantitative data by mean and standard deviation, interpreted against a five-level criterion; qualitative and quantitative evidence was integrated at model construction and again in interpreting the phase-3 results.
Results: The findings revealed that: (1) the key components of administering the student care and support system in the digital era consisted of six components: knowing students individually, student screening, student promotion and development, problem prevention and resolution, student referral, and technology; (2) the developed administrative model using the 7A Model comprised clear and comprehensive elements, including principles, objectives, operational processes, and evaluation. The expert evaluation indicated that the model’s suitability was at a high level (x̄ = 4.28, S.D. = 0.54), while the user manual was rated at the highest level of suitability (x̄ =4.78, S.D. = 0.38); and (3) the overall evaluation of the model showed that its feasibility and utility were at a high level (x̄ = 4.33, S.D. = 0.43)
Conclusion: The digital-era student support system management model based on the 7A Model developed in this study was found to be appropriate, feasible, and beneficial for implementation in student support system management. The model therefore has the potential to be applied in educational institutions as a systematic administrative mechanism for student care and support in the digital era. As the present findings rest on expert and user judgement rather than field implementation, its effects on student quality require verification through trial implementation in schools.
