Abstract

Objectives: 1. Studying cultures and believes of Thai Muslims in Southern Border Provinces of Thailand risking for the spreading of the Virus Corona Disease 2019 2. Finding ways in protecting and reducing of the spreading of the Virus Corona Disease 2019 by Islamic teachings, health principles and local wisdoms.

Methodology: the qualitative research which Data of the study gained form documentary study, In-depth Interview, focus group and public stage.

Research Findings: Results of the study showed that cultures and believes of Thai Muslims in Southern Border Provinces of Thailand risking for the spreading of the Virus Corona Disease 2019 could be divided into 3 categories, namely, 1. Cultures that were based on religious principles                2. Cultures that were based on religious principles and believes 3. Cultures that were based on general believes. Collective behaviors resulted from cultures were 1. Handshaking 2. Hugging 3. Giving Salam without social distancing 4.Sharing materials and containers. Regarding believes risking for the spreading of the disease could be divided into 3 kinds, namely, believes that were based on religious principles, believes that mixed with both religious and general principles, and general believes.

Contribution: Regarding ways in protecting and reducing of the spreading of the disease by applying the Islamic teaching, health principles and local wisdom, findings showed that the Islamic teaching that could be applied were related to Qada and Qadar, disease healing, protecting of the spreading of the disease, prohibition of the torture self and others, obeying the learned, trusting in Allah, patient, try one best, and balanced principles. Regarding the health principles, the findings showed that the principles applied were cleanliness, food consuming, exercise, relaxation and living in good environment. Regarding local wisdom, it was divided into 3 categories, namely, treatment by using only herbs, using herbs with prayers, and using only prayers.
