1 Academic Identification and Authentication

The Journal of Islamic Studies (JOIS) implements internationally recognized identification and authentication systems to ensure the integrity, traceability, and credibility of scholarly publications.

DOI (Digital Object Identifier)
Each published article is assigned a unique DOI to provide a persistent and stable digital link, ensuring long-term accessibility and reliable citation tracking.

ISSN / e-ISSN
The journal is registered with International Standard Serial Numbers for both print and electronic formats, enabling formal identification within global scholarly databases.

ORCID iD Integration
JOIS supports ORCID integration to accurately link authors with their scholarly outputs, prevent name ambiguity, and ensure proper attribution across academic platforms.

OpenID Connect Authentication
The journal utilizes OpenID Connect as a secure Single Sign-On authentication protocol, enabling authors and reviewers to access the submission system through trusted global identity providers.


2 Access, Metadata, and Discoverability Standards

JOIS adopts international publishing and metadata standards to enhance global accessibility, interoperability, and research discoverability.

Open Access Licensing
The journal operates under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, permitting unrestricted access, distribution, and reuse of published content with proper attribution.

Citation Standard Adoption
JOIS adopts the APA 7th Edition citation and referencing standard to ensure international consistency, citation accuracy, and indexing compatibility.

Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH)
The journal supports the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), enabling repositories and academic search systems to collect and index journal metadata systematically.

XML Metadata Export
Structured XML metadata is implemented to facilitate machine readability, indexing, and integration with global scholarly databases.

Google Scholar Indexing
Published articles are indexed and discoverable through Google Scholar search systems, enhancing academic visibility and citation accessibility.


3 Indexing and Long-term Digital Preservation

JOIS maintains recognized indexing partnerships and digital preservation systems to ensure the continuity, authenticity, and permanent availability of scholarly content.

Indexing Databases
The journal is indexed in national and international scholarly databases in accordance with their evaluation criteria.

Digital Preservation Systems
Long-term archiving is supported through distributed preservation networks, including:

  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)

  • CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)

These systems ensure that published content remains permanently accessible, even in the event of technical failure or platform discontinuity.
