Aims and Scope

The Journal of Islamic Studies, Prince of Songkla University (JOIS) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually by the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus. It aims to promote the advancement, dissemination, and exchange of scholarly knowledge in the integrated field of Islamic and Muslim Studies, covering both classical and contemporary perspectives.

The journal primarily focuses on the following three areas:

  • Islamic Law

  • Islamic Economics

  • Middle Eastern Studies

JOIS welcomes original research articles, academic papers, and book reviews from scholars, researchers, and postgraduate students both in Thailand and abroad. All submissions must demonstrate academic rigor and contribute meaningfully to the field.


Peer Review Process

All submissions are subject to an initial screening by the editorial board to ensure alignment with the journal’s scope and standards. Qualified manuscripts are then reviewed through a double-blind peer review process by at least three experts in the relevant field.

Note: Book reviews and critiques are not subject to peer review.


Publication Fee

A publication fee of 2,000 Thai Baht is charged only after a manuscript passes the editorial screening and is assigned to peer reviewers.


Types and Length of Submissions

  • Research articles: 8–15 pages

  • Academic articles: 8–15 pages

  • Book reviews: 2–5 pages


Languages Accepted

The journal accepts manuscripts written in Thai, English, Malay, and Arabic.


Publication Frequency

JOIS publishes two issues per year, each containing approximately 8 to 10 articles:

  • Issue 1: January–June

  • Issue 2: July–December
