WARTER SOURCES AND MEANS OF IRRIGATION DURING THE TIME OF THE PROPHET (PBUH)
Abstract
The research methodology of this article is done on the basis of the methodology of historical research, methodology of descriptive research and the methodology of analytical research. This article has concluded that there were sufficient water resources during the Prophet's time for drinking and irrigation. Also the Arab Peninsula was not as arid as some would believe. The irrigation system was well developed during the prophet's time. Furthermore, the article concluded that the means of irrigation were established to make use of water local resources. One more conclusion is that the Prophet (PBUH) had made use of the pre-Islamic irrigation systems such as water depot and dams. And finally, water regulations that were established by the Prophet (PBUH) had led to solving water disputes and to a better use of water resources. However, this article recommends the necessity of directing our researches towards studying aspects of civilization when researching the Prophets' biography. The second recommendation is the need to pay further attention to the study of Islamic economic history for the important role it plays on the development of historical events as to their initiations and results.Downloads
