The Systematic Review of Dissociative Identity Disorder on Adult 2011-2018

Abstract
Objectives: To study focusing on dissociative identity disorder (DID) with the emphasis on the disorder, etiology, assessment and diagnosis, and treatment. Materials and methods: Research include a systematic literature review on DID in adults that were published from 2011 to 2018 under five databases, namely Embase, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and PsycINFO, using the PICo framework for the review. Moreover, the duplicate articles were excluded according to inclusive-and-exclusive criteria. The quality
of the articles was assessed using JBI's critical appraisal tools and the data was extracted using research synthesis. Results: The total of 28 articles were included, revealing six key areas: 1) the negative impact of diagnosis on patients and their daily lives, 2) assessment for diagnosis, understanding, and differentiating DID patients from the mimic group, 3) variables related to DID, 4) comparisons between DID and other psychiatric disorders, 5) specific causes of the disorder, focusing on brain morphology, and
6) psychotherapeutic treatment, including International Society for The Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) psychotherapy, dynamic deconstructive psychotherapy (DDP), and occupational therapy. Conclusion: This study discovers the most current research topics related to DID. Regarding the etiology of the disorder, there is an increasing emphasis on brain morphology that provide more scientific
explanations which can lead to better further studies. It is now known that assessment and diagnosis commonly involve the use of SCID-D where the treatment aims to reduce dissociation, helping patients to improve the quality of their daily lives.
