Love and Attachment to Place of Older Adults About Lived Amidst Dynamics of Change in the Old Communities of Mueang Chiang Mai District: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis

Abstract
Objective To explore the experiences about love and attachment to place of older people living amidst dynamics of change in the old communities of Mueang Chiang Mai District. Materials and methods This qualitative research using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), collected data via in-depth semi-structured interview method with four participants who is older adults that had experiences growing up and spent the life cycle in Charoen-Muang Road and Railway Station. Sample selection based on purposive homogeneous sampling by gate keeper and snowball sampling. Results As Participants reported three superordinate theme included ‘Happiness and values given to the old community’, ‘Vivid memories about the old community’ and ‘Bonding ties to the old community’ Conclusion Our findings showed that older adults attached to their own place. This is considered especially significant for support a positive life of older adults. Therefore, it is important to pay more attention to the close interaction of older adults and environment at the local level because it can promote the mental health of older adults.
