Abstract

The objectives of the present study were (1) to investigate the influence of strategic leadership towards excellence and its outcomes in achieving excellence of schools under the Office of Private Education Commission in the North-eastern Region of Thailand and (2) to verify the consistency of the causal model with empirical data. The Samples, selected using multistage random sampling method, were 300 private schools under the Office of Private Education Commission in the North-eastern Region of Thailand. Data were collected through a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.946 from November 2019 to February 2020 and analyzed with a computer software package using Structural Equation Modeling. The results suggested that the outcomes in achieving excellence of the schools were influenced by strategic leadership, strategic leadership had significant impacts on outcomes in achieving excellence of the schools with a total effect value of 1.00, a direct effect value of 0.53, and an indirect effect value of 0.47. The second influencing factor was the administration with a total impact value of 0.48, obtained entirely from direct effects. Moreover, the model was congruent with the empirical data.  The results of the study also imply that school administrators should put greater efforts on developing both strategic leadership skills and administration skills with an exceptional emphasis on the former skills in order to achieve the target school excellence.
