People’s Participation in Local Development Plan Making of Suphanburi Municipality, Suphan Buri

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the level of people's participation: A case study of Suphanburi City Municipality, Suphan Buri, and to study the problems and obstacles in people’s participation in local development plan making of Suphanburi City Municipality, Suphanburi. The Samplings were 394 who traveled in Suphanburi City Municipality, Suphanburi. Data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by packaged computer program. Statistical tools for data analysis were Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test, One Way ANOVA, and Product Moment Correlation Coefficient at the 0.05 level of significance. The study found people's participation: A case study of Suphanburi City Municipality, Suphan Buri. People’s participation in local development plan making in low level. Hypothesis test found age education career and income affect to people’s participation in local development plan making, but sex and long-time residents in the community don’t affect to people’s participation in local development plan making. With regard to problems and obstacles in people’s participation, they did not have time to participate in formulating the Local Development Plan and did not have knowledge concerning the local development plan formulation. Besides, the local administrative organizations lacked the public relations for people to understand the local development plan.
