Scopes
Thai Interdisciplinary and Sustainability Review (TISR) is an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research and review articles from diverse fields—including the natural sciences, technology, the humanities, and the social sciences—that address issues of sustainability and sustainable development. The journal places particular emphasis on scholarship related to Thailand, while also welcoming comparative studies at domestic and international levels. Submissions are sought across, but not limited to, the following thematic areas:
1. Thai Studies and Sustainability: Interdisciplinary investigations of Thailand encompassing geography, history, economics, politics, society, and culture, with attention to their links to sustainability challenges and opportunities. This theme also includes research on Tai ethnic groups and other ethnographic perspectives within Thailand.
2. Sustainability Challenges in Thailand: Analyses of the principal sustainability challenges facing Thailand, such as the impacts of globalization, climate change, urbanization, economic crises, pandemics (e.g., COVID-19), resource scarcity, and environmental degradation. The journal encourages work that explores the interconnections among these challenges and their implications for sustainable development.
3. Integrated Approaches to Sustainable Development: Research on creative, integrated strategies for achieving sustainable development at multiple scales—from national policy and organizational governance to technological innovation, educational programs, and community-level initiatives. Emphasis is placed on studies that examine links between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their implementation in the Thai context.
4. Sustainability Science and Its Applications: Theoretical and applied research on the science of sustainability, including the development of concepts, methodologies, and tools for defining, measuring, monitoring, and modeling sustainability. This area covers the application of sustainability principles across sectors such as agriculture, energy, transportation, and urban planning, as well as related social, ethical, and governance issues. The journal also welcomes articles that draw lessons from other countries that may be applicable to Thailand.
Article Types
Thai Interdisciplinary and Sustainability Review (TISR) welcomes submissions in two primary article categories:
• Research Articles: Empirical, original research that makes a significant scholarly contribution to the study of sustainability and sustainable development from an interdisciplinary perspective. Manuscripts should clearly state the research questions, describe the methodology in sufficient detail for evaluation and replication, present rigorous analysis and results, and offer well-founded academic conclusions and recommendations.
• Review Articles: Scholarly syntheses of existing literature that provide a comprehensive and critical overview of the current state of knowledge on topics related to sustainability and sustainable development. Review articles should systematically analyze and integrate relevant sources, identify research gaps, and offer insightful perspectives on key issues and emerging trends, with an emphasis on contributions to interdisciplinary understanding.
Publication Frequency
Thai Interdisciplinary and Sustainability Review (TISR) is published bi-annually, with two volumes per year:
• No. 1: January - June
• No. 2: July - December
While articles accepted within each period are scheduled for immediate online publication upon completion of the final production, the total number of articles per issue will be determined by the editorial team to maintain a balanced publication. This may include incorporating accepted articles received shortly after the timeframe or adjusting the order to ensure a consistent volume, with some articles possibly shifted to the subsequent issue for optimal fit.
Peer Review Process
Thai Interdisciplinary and Sustainability Review (TISR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic rigor through a rigorous and transparent open peer review process. All submitted manuscripts undergo review by at least three suitably qualified experts in the relevant field. The review process is open, fostering constructive dialogue between authors and reviewers. Final publication decisions are made by the editors based on the thoroughness and quality of the reviews, ensuring that only the most impactful and scientifically sound research is published.

Thai Interdisciplinary and Sustainability Review (TISR) publishes articles in both Thai and English, aiming to serve both the local Thai research community and the broader international scientific community.
