The Upgrading of Tharongchang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phunphin, Surat Thani to Sub-district Municipality: A Study of the Opinion of People, Administrators and Staffs

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to study the opinions of people, administrators and staffs of the upgrading of Tharongchang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phunphin, Surat Thani to Sub-district Municipality, to compare the opinion levels by personal factors and to study the relation of people between knowledge and understanding about the upgrading Subdistrict Administrative Organization to Sub-district Municipality and the opinions of the upgrading of Tharongchang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phunphin, Surat Thani to Sub-district Municipality. Two separated samples collected were from 372 persons based on questionnaires and 24 officers based on in-depth interviews. The data collected by questionnaires analyzed via a computer program in finding percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson product moment correlation coefficient were at the significance levels of .05 and .01. The data collected by in-depth interviews used descriptive analysis. The research findings were as follow: the opinions of people, administrators and staffs of the upgrading of Tharongchang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phunphin, Surat Thani to Sub-district Municipality were at high level. The hypothesis testing revealed that gender and income per month had no effect to the opinion levels of the upgrading of Tharongchang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phunphin, Surat Thani to Sub-district Municipality. For age, education and occupation had effect to the opinion levels. However, knowledge and understanding of people had relationship with the opinions of the upgrading of Tharongchang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phunphin, Surat Thani to Sub-district Municipality.
