Abstract

This research aimed to study the opinions of government officers in Bangkok to local politicians nowadays by applying quantitative research methodology. Questionnaires were used to collect data from a sample group of 296 Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Officials and consequently analysed by using a computer statistical software to describe the result. The results showed that the opinion level of the sample group towards the ethical standards of the local politicians was moderate. In particular, the aspect of being loyal to “Nation, Religion and King” and being the symbol of the democracy with the king as head of state was regarded at the highest level, following by the aspect of having frequently visited the people to listen to their complaints, to observe their welfare and to provide suitable aids accordingly as soon as possible without discrimination. On the other hand, the aspect of not abusing their powers or positions to interfere or intervene with the processes of assigning, appointing, transferring, promoting and giving raise to officials who had permanent positions and wages and were not political officials, officers or employees of government authorities, public agencies, state enterprises, state-owned enterprises, or local governments or sacking such person, unless such acts were properly subjected to the laws and obligations, was regarded as the lowest.
