Factors Affecting the Success of Probation Officers in Supervising Probationers in Cases of the Land Traffic Act B.E.2522 Violation in Bangkok

This research aimed to study the levels of success and factors affecting such of the probation officers in supervising probationers in cases of the Land Traffic Act B.E.2522 violations in Bangkok. The samples consisted of 186 probation officers from 12 offices in Bangkok. The multi-stage sampling, the stratified random sampling and simple random sampling, were used and questionnaires were employed in data collecting. Statistics used in analysing the data was percentage, means, standard deviation, t-Test, One-way ANOVA and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient, at the statistical significance level of .05. In overall, the research found that the success of the probation officers in supervising probationers was at moderate level, or in details; the personnel supervision aspect was at a high level; the management, the structure, career development, materials, finance/budgets aspects were at moderate levels; and salary and fringe benefit aspects were at low levels. The overall success in case management of the probation officers in supervising probationers and the overall success of probations were at moderate level. In addition, the hypothesis results revealed that the probation officers who were on different levels of education generally had different levels of success in supervising probations at the statistical significance of .05. The terms of structure, materials, management, career development, salary and fringe benefits, and finance/budgets were all correlated to the success of probation officers in supervising probationers at the statistical significance of .05.
