The Development of Analytical Reading Skills of the Fifth Year Secondary School Students by Using 5W1H Questioning Technique with Classroom

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to develop the analytical reading skills of the fifth year secondary school students by using 5W1H questioning technique with classroom assessment technique with the criterion of 70%; 2) to compare the pretest and posttest of analytical reading skills of fifth year secondary school students by using the 5W1H questioning technique with the classroom assessment technique. An exploratory research method was used in the study. The sample group consisted of 30 students of the fifth year secondary school from classroom 1, who were studying in the second semester of academic year B.E. 2565 at Warin Chamrap School, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The sample group was acquired by cluster sampling. The tools used were: 1) Learning management plans for analytical reading by using the 5W1H questioning technique with the classroom assessment technique, with the realiability of 4.73; and 2) The analytical reading skill test with a realiability of KR-20 0.92. The following statistics were used: percentage, mean, standard deviation, and dependent samples t-test.


From the study, the following results were found: 1) The results of the analytical reading skills of fifth-year secondary school students employing the 5W1H questioning technique with classroom assessment technique were higher than the criterion of 70%; 2) The posttest of analytical reading skills of fifth year secondary school students by using the 5W1H questioning technique with the classroom assessment technique was higher than pretest with a statistical significance of 0.05.
