Abstract

The development of industries has resulted in economic growth, simultaneously affecting the environment and the health of people in the community. Good management of the industries enables them to co-exist harmoniously and sustainably with the community. This research aimed to study the satisfaction of the community and success factors for sustainable coexistence between Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited, Trang Branch, and Bang Rak - Ban Saphan Chang community in Mueang Trang District, Trang Province. It was developed as mixed-method study. The quantitative sample was estimated with a sample size of 330, using proportional allocation selection approach and randomly sampled from households representatives. The qualitative informants were purposively selected from four groups, totaling 33 people, consisting of: 1) 4 company executives, 2) 4 personnel in charge of industrial and environmental governance, 3) 5 community leaders, and 4) 20 community members. As for the findings, the research reveals that the overall satisfaction of the community towards the company is highly satisfied (mean 3.92), where educational promotion is ranked at the top (mean 3.88) followed by community and social development (mean 3.84).

The research also discovers six success factors for sustainable coexistence, comprising of complaints planning and resolution, social and environmental policies implementation, physical and mental health care, social networking, exchange of knowledge and comprehension, and mutual participation in community development. Throughout the findings, this research suggests that the company should improve public awareness, participation, knowledge transfer, and assistance offering to the surrounding community to comprehend its holistic organizational management.
