Guidelines for Rehabilitation of Disabled People to Be Able to Work Effectively in Industrial Sectors in the Eastern Economic Corridor

Abstract

The research article aimed at investigating the guidelines for the rehabilitation of the disabled persons for effective work performance for the industrial sectors in Eastern Economic Corridor. The study used a qualitative research method, with data collected through structured in-depth interviews with two sample groups of 19 persons; first group consisted of 9 persons including government agencies involved in effective rehabilitation of disabled persons, national development plans for persons with disabilities, the development of public health services, and the sustainable development of the quality of life of persons with disabilities; and second group comprised of 10 persons, including private sector executives and entrepreneurs who hired disabled persons. Both groups were questioned about the management plan for the disabled persons' sustainable quality of life in terms of work design, social conditions, facilities, and environment in order to accommodate disabled persons who have completed rehabilitation to work properly and effectively. The researcher used content analysis with the obtained data in order to respond to the research objectives. 


From the study, it is discovered that the guidelines for the rehabilitation of the disabled persons for effective work performance for the industrial sectors in Eastern Economic Corridor can be summarized into four which are: 1) On rights and duties through developing knowledge of the rights and duties of the disabled, as well as the family, community, society, enterprises, and personnel from both the public and private sectors who work with persons with disabilities; 2) On the development of the quality of life of the disabled persons by raising awareness, providing education, and sharing information about the disabled and their potential development; 3) On the potential development of the disabled through well-being promotion and the organization of activities in sport, occupation, and the social welfare system; 4) On rehabilitation activities for persons with disabilities such as hearing and seeing performance, intelligence, diabetes, and depression; 5) On integrated management by developing work performance related to disabled persons in terms of the development of personnel, family, and parents of the disabled in a sufficient and effective manner based on the standard; 6) On strengthening the involvement of organizations for disabled persons and their parents to improve their quality of life; 7) On the participation of disabled persons, their families, and the community in decision-making processes at the level of policies, work plans, projects, regulations, and services that affect the disabled; 8) On access to news and information, services, the environment, and technology through supporting in the arrangement of the environment and facilities for persons with all types of disabilities; and 9) On research and development to improve the quality of life of the disabled, project evaluation, and any work operation involving disabled persons.
