Abstract

This study employed quantitative methods to examine the direct impacts of organizational communication effectiveness on team effectiveness and employee work engagement, as well as the direct impact of employee work engagement on team effectiveness. Furthermore, the study investigated the mediating role of work engagement in the relationship between organizational communication effectiveness and team effectiveness. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires from a convenience sample of 264 employees at an engineering firm located in Laem Chabang Industrial Estate, Chon Buri Province, Thailand. The statistical analyses utilized included the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, correlation coefficient, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and Structural Equation Modeling analysis (SEM). The structural equation model demonstrated a good fit with the empirical data, as evidenced by the following key indicators: CMIN/DF = 1.489, GFI = .950, AGFI = .924, CFI = .983, NFI = .951, RMR = .016, and RMSEA = .043. Findings revealed that effective organizational communication significantly influences team effectiveness, both directly and through the mediating role of work engagement. Together, organizational communication effectiveness and work engagement account for 47.6 percent of the variance in team performance. These results highlight the importance for executives and leaders to prioritize communication effectiveness. This can be achieved by ensuring that messages are tailored to the specific situation and audience, maintaining consistency, providing appropriate content, and considering the listener's capacity for comprehension. Active support for communication skills development among employees, supervisors, and executives by the human resources department is therefore essential.
