Abstract

This quantitative research aimed to: 1) examine the differences in online purchasing decisions of Generation Y consumers based on demographic characteristics, and 2) investigate the influence of influencer credibility on their online purchasing decisions. Data were collected via questionnaires from a sample of 400 respondents. The statistical techniques used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA), and multiple regression analysis (MRA).

The results revealed that: 1) Generation Y consumers with different genders and ages exhibited statistically significant differences in online purchasing decisions at the 0.05 level, whereas education level, occupation, marital status, and average monthly income caused no significant differences. And 2) Influencer credibility had a statistically significant influence on online purchasing decisions at the 0.05 level. Attractiveness had the highest influence (equation = 0.292) followed by trustworthiness (equation = 0.250) and expertise (equation = 0.209) respectively. Together, these three dimensions explained 41.20% (Adjusted R2= 0.412) of the variance in online purchasing decisions. These findings support the Source Credibility Theory and can be applied to develop influencer marketing strategies to enhance communication effectiveness and promote consumers' online purchasing decisions.
