ประเพณีเทศน์กาเผือกของชาวไทยยวนอำเภอเสาไห้ จังหวัดสระบุรี (Ka Phueak Chanting Ceremony of Thai Yuan in Sao Hai District, Saraburi province)

Abstract

บทความนี้มุ่งนำเสนอข้อมูลภาคสนามเกี่ยวกับประเพณีเทศน์กาเผือกและวิเคราะห์บทบาทของประเพณีดังกล่าวในการสืบทอดวรรณกรรมเรื่องกาเผือกของชาวไทยยวน อำเภอเสาไห้ จังหวัดสระบุรี

ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ประเพณีเทศน์กาเผือกของชาวไทยยวน อำเภอเสาไห้ จังหวัดสระบุรี เป็นประเพณีที่ยังปฏิบัติกันอยู่ ในตอนค่ำของวันขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 12 ในประเพณีนี้พระสงฆ์จะเทศน์เรื่องกาเผือก และชาวบ้านจะจุดประทีปตีนกาบูชาแม่กาเผือกผู้เป็นมารดาของพระพทุธเจ้าทั้งห้าพระองค์ตามเรื่องกาเผอืกในคัมภีร์เทศน์ ประเพณีดังกล่าวจึงมีบทบาทในการสืบทอดวรรณกรรมเรื่องกาเผือกของชาวไทยยวนในชุมชนแห่งนี้

This article aims to study Ka Phueak chanting ceremony and to study the function of this tradition in order to reserve the Ka Phueak story of Thai Yuan in Sao Hai District, Saraburi Province.

The research reveals that Ka Phueak chanting ceremony of Thai Yuan in Amphoe Sao Hai, Saraburi Province is still arranged in fifteenth waxing day of the Thai Yuan twelth month. The Ka Phueak chanting is read by a monk and the crow feet shaped candlewick are lighted to worship “Mae Ka Phueak” [the White Crow], the five Buddhas’ mother in Thai Yuan belief among villagers in this tradition. Therefore, Ka Phueak chanting ceremony has the reservation role for the Ka Phueak story of Thai Yuan in Sao Hai District, Saraburi Province.
