Abstract
This article aims to examines the characteristics of parents in Aonkasem Rodsutthi’s Ban Tang Sai Leuad, a Thai contemporary young adult literary work. The study analyzes through literary elements such as characters, scenes, and themes. The study reveals that the author presents an ideal father image that will protect all children who are non-blood relation such as a stepdaughter who losses her father and a younger brother and an adopted child with autism. At the same time, the author also presented a picture of women in two categories: the image of women seeking protection from a man and a depressed mother giving birth to a child. Such presenting of woman images, the author might want to imply the patriarchal ideology.
