Abstract

Flipped classroom started around A.D.2007 by Jonathan Bergmann and Aaron
Sams, chemistry teachers. The concept is turning the classroom lecture to classroom
activities. The lecture should be done outside the classroom or through video and online media. By doing this way, students will have more chance to participate and
interact with their teacher and friends. Flipped classroom is suitable for the learning
in 21st century as it encourages teachers and students to develop their IT skills for
the learning benefits. It also increases learning opportunities for students to learn
and study anytime and anywhere they want. The online lecture can be repeated
until students understand the lesson. The concept of flipped classroom can be
applied to use in the Physical Education class. As the flipped classroom focuses
on practicing, students will have more times to practice by themselves than the
traditional classroom. That should be the target for the perfect Physical education
class. The teacher can only act as a coach to facilitate students to practice correctly.
Therefore the Physical Education teachers must adjust themselves to catch up with
the world’s today situation by incorporating IT and social media to the classroom.
This can produce not only high capacity of teachers and students, but also high
standard of Physical Education class according to its philosophy.
