Preparing the Pre-Retirement Population for an Aging Society: A Study of Residents in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract
This research article aims to study factors affecting the readiness of people in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province, for entering an aging society. This research employed a quantitative research method. The sample group consisted of people aged 40-59 years old in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province. Sample size determination used the criterion of 20 times the number of observed variables. This research had 15 observed variables, resulting in a sample size of 300 people. The research instrument was a questionnaire about preparing before retirement age. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM).
The research findings revealed that readiness for entering an aging society was directly influenced most by health capability, followed by technology and innovation capability, economic capability, and social capability, respectively. Regarding indirect effects, readiness for entering an aging society was indirectly influenced most by health capability, followed by economic capability. When considering total effects, readiness for entering an aging society received total influence most from health capability, followed by economic capability, technology and innovation capability, and social capability, respectively. The model demonstrated good fit with the empirical data.
