The Development of an Instructional Model to Enhance Arts Design Competency for the 11th Graders

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the problems and needs in enhancing arts design competency for the 11th graders; 2) to develop an instructional model to enhance arts design competency for the 11th graders; 3) to assess an instructional model to enhance arts design competency for the 11th graders. This research used a Research and Development model. The sample group studied were art teachers under the Office of Ubon Ratchathani Amnat Charoen Secondary Educational Service Area, academic year 2023, totaling 254 people. The tools used in the research were a questionnaire on conditions, problems, and guidelines for teaching and learning in visual arts subjects, A questionnaire for research the development of an instructional model to enhance arts design competency for the 11th graders, an appropriate assessment form for teaching and learning to enhance arts design competency for the 11th graders by experts The statistics used were percentage, mean, standard deviation.


The results showed that: 1) The analysis of problems and needs to enhance art design competency of the teachers in the art learning group found that overall are at a high level (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.57); 2) The results of the development of an instructional model to enhance arts design competency for the 11th graders consisted of 6 components, namely (1) Principles, (2) Objectives, (3) Contents, (4) Teaching and learning activities in 6 steps, including Step 1 refers to Problem Identification, Step 2 refers to Acquisition, Step 3 refers to Troubleshooting, Step 4 refers to Tactic, Step 5 refers to Rearing, Step 6 refers to Assessment, (5) Media and learning resources, (6) Measurement and evaluation; and 3) Evaluation results of an instructional model to enhance arts design competency for the 11th graders found that the mean is at the highest level (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 4.65).
