A Model for Community Participation in the Administration of Early Childhood Education under the Municipality

Abstract

The research article included the following objectives: 1) to examine the current conditions and needs for community participation in the administration of early childhood education under the municipality; and 2) to develop a model for community participation in the administration of early childhood education under the municipality. A mixed methods approach was used for the study. The key informants were 1) 108 administrators, early childhood teachers, and school committee members; and 2) 11 experts. The instruments used in the study were 1) a questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale and 2) a model evaluation form. The statistics used for the content analysis were 1) mean and 2) standard deviation (S.D.).


From the study, the following results were found: 1) The current conditions, both overall and in all aspects, are at a moderate level, while the needs, both overall and in all aspects, are at a high level; and 2) The model developed for community participation in the administration of early childhood education under the municipality consists of 5 components, namely 2.1) principles, 2.2) objectives, 3.3) procedures, 3.4) evaluation, and 2.5) conditions for success. The model has overall propriety at a high level and feasibility overall at a high level.
