Vlog Storytelling Learning Management in History to Promote Local Citizenship Skills of Secondary School Students

Abstract

The purposes of this article are: 1. Study the narration-based Vlog storytelling learning management in history to promote local citizenship skills of secondary school students; 2. Study the guideline for narration-based Vlog storytelling learning management in history to promote local citizenship skills of secondary school students. This study is action research, using nine social studies teachers selected by purposive sampling and document analysis and education management guideline assessment form as tools. Content analysis was conducted for qualitative data assessment, whilst the mean and standard deviation were used for quantitative data assessment.


The study revealed that;


  1. the narration-based history education management using Vlog was a learner-centered approach in that the learner had to create content, research data, understand the context and interview the locals. Then, the locals had to process the data, organize the thought process and present the story as a Vlog;

  2. The researcher developed a guideline for narration-based Vlog storytelling learning management in history to promote local citizenship skills of secondary school students, called UBTE, which had four steps: 1. Understanding, 2. Building knowledge, 3. Taking action, and 4. Evaluation. The expert assessment was shown to have the highest level.
