Social Studies Learning Process by Positive Digital Footprint Approach to Promote Critical Digital Citizenship of Secondary Students

Abstract
The research article included the following objectives: 1) to investigate the learning process in social studies through the positive digital footprint approach to promote critical digital citizenship among secondary school students; and 2) to propose guidelines for the learning process in social studies through the positive digital footprint approach to promote critical digital citizenship among secondary school students. The action research approach was employed in the study. The sample group consisted of 24 individuals selected through purposive sampling. They included: 1) 15 key informants who were social studies teachers; and 2) 9 experts for evaluating the guidelines for the learning process of social studies who were also social studies teachers. The instruments for the study included a document analysis form, an unstructured interview form and a learning innovation management assessment form. The qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis, while the quantitative data were examined by mean and standard deviation.
From the study, the following results are found: 1) The learning process in social studies through the positive digital footprint approach to promote critical digital citizenship refers to the learning process of inventing, adapting, and applying the positive digital footprint approach through analysis, synthesis, and the creation of new thinking processes. This footprint, which appears on the digital social network platform, shows a positive direction, i.e. a creative and appropriate expression. This involves taking responsibility for one’s actions (both reaction and expression in the digital world) through the ability to manage one’s emotions, leading to a citizen with critical digital literacy; and 2) The guidelines for the learning process in social studies through the positive digital footprint approach to promote critical digital citizenship are called the “TRS2New Model”. The model includes the following steps: 2.1) Test, 2.2) Realize, 2.3) Positive Situation, 2.4) New Identity, 2.5) New Creation. This model is of the highest propriety after evaluation by experts.
