The Development of a Learning Model Based on Blended Learning Concepts to Promote English Reading Comprehension Proficiency for High School Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of the research article were as follows: 1) to develop and examine the quality of learning styles and learning plans; 2) to develop the efficiency of learning plans to meet the 70/70 criterion; and 3) to develop English reading comprehension to achieve a score higher than 70%. The study employed research and development method. The sample group comprised 20 students from the fifth secondary school of Chumphae Pittayakhom School in the academic year B.E. 2565 who were selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used in the study included: 1) learning styles and plans; 2) a test of English reading comprehension during the learning process. The obtained data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.
From the study, the results revealed as follows: 1) The learning styles based on blended learning concepts consists of the following components (1) principles of learning styles, (2) objectives of learning styles, (3) learning procedures, (4) measurement and evaluation, and (5) support symtem. The results of the quality check showed that the learning styles are of high quality overall ( = 4.33, S.D.= 0.32), while the learning plans are of high quality overall (
= 4.44, S.D.= 0.58); 2) The efficiency of learning plans in terms of process efficiency (E1) has a percentage of 74.92, while the efficiency of achievements (E2) has a percentage of 73.12, which is higher than the set criterion of 70; and 3) The results of the development of English reading comprehension based on blended learning concepts show that students achieved a score of 75%, which is above the specified criterion.
