The Comparative Study on the Relationship between Paper-Cutting and Traditional Chinese Painting: The Case Study of Pujiang Paper-Cutting

Abstract

Starting from the humanities of Pujiang, this article explains the humanistic thoughts of the external environment of Pujiang paper-cutting and the basis of traditional calligraphy and painting, summarizes the regional cultural characteristics of Pujiang paper-cutting, and then specifically analyzes Pujiang paper-cutting and traditional painting from four aspects: composition layout, line use, character form, and image communication explicit and implicit relationships. Using the method of comparative analysis and combining pictures to visually show the artistic connection between Pujiang paper-cutting and traditional painting, it can be concluded that the shapes and techniques of Pujiang paper-cutting are deeply influenced by traditional painting. Papercut has great artistic appreciation value.
