Abstract

This academic article aimed to explain that ethical reasoning is a process that may be taught and learned. Having ethical reasoning skills facilitates principled and logical ethical judgment. Developing ethical reasoning skills is essential for leading an ethical life as an individual and creating an ethical society. The main obstacle to ethical reasoning skills is the natural human tendency to think self-interestedly, potentially exacerbated by confusion about ethical reasoning concepts and failure to identify ethical aspects of issues at hand. However, empirical evidence suggests that ethical reasoning skills may be taught at higher educational institutions. Ethical reasoning instructional methods comprise lectures and case studies to impart required ethical concepts and knowledge and prepare students to apply them in different circumstances and contexts.
