The Ability of Second Grade Students to Write Vowels in Thai According to Game-Based Learning Management Together with a Practice Package for Writing Vowels in Thai

Abstract

The research article included the following objectives: 1) to compare the ability of 2nd grade students to write vowels in Thai before and after game-based learning management together with a practice package for writing vowels in Thai; 2) to compare the ability of 2nd grade students to write vowels in Thai between game-based learning management together with a practice package for writing vowels in Thai and the criterion of 70% of full score; and 3) to explore the students’ attitudes towards game-based learning management together with a practice package for writing vowels in Thai. The sample group included 30 students of the 2nd grade from Wat Lat Sai School, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The instruments for the study included 1) a plan of game-based learning management together with a practice package for writing vowels in Thai; 2) a practice package for writing vowels in Thai; 3) a test to assess the ability to write vowels in Thai; and 4) a test to assess attitudes toward game-based learning management together with a practice package for writing vowels in Thai. The statistics used were mean, percentage, standard deviation, and t-test.


From the study, the following results are found: 1) The posttest assessing ability of 2nd grade students to write vowels in Thai after game-based learning management together with a practice package for writing vowels in Thai is higher than the pretest with a statistical significance of 0.05 level; 2) The posttest assessing ability of 2nd grade students to write vowels in Thai after game-based learning management together with a practice package for writing vowels in Thai is higher than the criterion of 70% of full score, with a statistical significance of 0.05 level; and 3) Students’ attitudes towards game-based learning management together with a practice package for writing vowels in Thai are overall at a high level (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 4.76, S.D. = 0.52).
