The Representation of Modern Society in the Short Stories Written by Praeploy Wanat

Abstract
The research article entitled “The Representation of Modern Society in the Short Stories Written by Praeploy Wanat” consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the representation of modern society in the short stories written by Praeploy Wanat; and 2) to explore the strategies of Praeploy Wanat for naming short stories in a 14-topic book titled "A collection of short stories by Kanokphong Songsomphan Award-winning writer, 24 hours." The study employed a qualitative research method, and the obtained data were presented in a descriptive analysis.
From the study, the following findings are found: 1) In the short stories written by Praeploy Wanat, there are six representations of modern, listed below in descending order from most common to least common: (1) Family, (2) Sexual behavior, (3) Friendship, (4) Interpersonal relationships, (5) social stratification, and (6) Dishonesty; 2) Another outstanding aspect of Praeploy's short story that the researcher found intriguing is the story naming strategies. There are four strategies for naming story titles, listed below in descending order from most common to least common: (1) Naming titles based on the theme or main idea of the story; (2) Naming titles after the main characters; (3) Naming titles with contradictory or opposing meanings; and (4) Naming titles specifying periods of time. Praeploy Wanat always names her short stories with short, easy-to-understand words as well as unique words that entice readers to read them.
