A Model of Developing an Ideal Leader Coach in Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means

Abstract
This research aims to 1) investigate circumstances and framework in developing a model of developing an ideal leader coach in peace according to the modern science of International Coaching Federation; 2) to explore the Buddhist peaceful means for developing an ideal leader coach in peace; and 3) to present a model of developing an ideal leader coach in peace by Buddhist peaceful means. This is an action research by documentary review and in-depth interview with 35 key informants who are expertise in coaching, people developing, facilitating, training, peaceful means and Buddhism. The trial of Peace Coach Training Program with the sample group of 20 learners for 4 days (48 hours) was conducted online successfully as shown in the evaluation scoring from the learners after class as follows: 1. overall satisfaction: great 78.6% and good 21.4% 2. knowledge: great 64.3% and good 35.7% 3. applied skill for work: great 57.1% good 35.7% and fair 7.2%
The results of this research are: 1. The problem of coaching is the lacking of knowledge and understanding of the coaches’ role and the value of coaching in empowering people 2. The Buddhist peaceful means for developing a model of An Ideal Leader Coach are 1) Kalyāṇamitta-dhamma (seven qualities of a good friend), 2) Magga (the Noble Eightfold Path); and 3) Bhāvanā (Four Developments). and 3. To present a short course named “Peace Coach Training Program” and “PEACE Model” consisting of 1) Peace (Creating an Inner Peace) 2) Education (Self-Exploration) 3) Attribution (Characteristics of Coaches) 4) Competency (Coaching Competencies) and 5) Energy (Energy for Success). Learners can become Peace Coaches with capability and skillset to coach people to achieve their goals.
