Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic has an effect on the teaching and learning methods. The study applied a mixed-method research aiming at studying the stress level, stress management, and factors predicting stress of nursing students. For quantitative method, a sample group included 268 students who were chosen by simple random sampling. The research tools included general data, Suanprung Stress Test, stress and anxiety management test. The content validity was examined by experts and the content validity index was equal to 1 and 0.9, Cronbach's alpha showed reliability coefficients of.95 and.92, respectively. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The qualitative data were collected from key informants who were 12 nursing students by using semi-structured interviews. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis.
From the study, the following results are found: 1) Stress has a mean equal to 52.11 (S.D. = 17.28) which is considered at a high level. From interviewing stress during the Covid-19 pandemic situation, two points are found which include 1) a change of style in teaching and learning and 2) a change in life.2) Stress management includes the following: (1) distraction, (2) finding ways to reduce anxiety, (3) exploring stress and stress reduction, (4) adjusting health behavior, and 5) adjusting ways to live in the dormitory. 3) The factors predicting stress have a statistical significance of 0.01 level which include grade point average (GPA), the 4th year students, family income per year, having computer/ laptop for online learning, physical environment of online learning which includes noise, learning results, and group work or work assigned in the class. With a statistical significance level of.001, these variables account for 23 percent of the stress variation among nursing students. According to the interviews, students do not comprehend the content of online teaching and learning, they are afraid of infecting their families with the disease, and the environment is not conducive to online learning.
