Needs Assessment and Confirmatory Factor Analysis: Critical Thinking Process Skills, Decision Making Process Skills, Creative Process Skills and Problem Solving Process Skills of Pre - Service Teachers in The Northeastern of Thailand
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of the study were: 1. to study the current state, desirable state and need assessment for developing high-order thinking process skills. The samples were 291 teachers from the faculty of education by multi-stage random sampling. The instruments used in this research was questionnaires, IOC=.80 and r=.824. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, , S.D. and PNI Modified; and 2. to confirmatory factor analysis critical thinking process skills, decision making process skills, creative process skills and problem solving process skill. The samples were 2,600 pre-service teachers from the faculty of education by multi-stage random sampling. The samples are 2,600 pre-service teachers from the faculty of education. The instrument used for confirmatory factors analyzed was 4 questionnaires, IOC = .80, .80, .90, 1.00 and r= .927, .858, .943 and .916. The confirmatory factors analyzed with Amos version 23.0. The findings were as follows:
- The current situations of high- order thinking skill of pre-service teachers in moderate levels ( = 2.82, S.D.= 4.34), desirable situations of high-order thinking skill of pre-service teachers in highest levels ( = 4.57, S.D.= 3.61) and need assessment for development creative process skills (PNI= .40), critical thinking process skills (PNI= .38), problem-solving process skills, (PNI= .37) and decision-making process skills (PNI= .36).
- The confirmatory factor analysis of the measurement model of critical thinking process skills, model creative process skills model, decision-making process skills and problem-solving process skills which were consistent with empirical data.
