The Results of Applying the Concepts of Contemplative Learning Integrated with Problem-Based Learning for Self-Transformation: Selected Topic of Ethics and Laws in Nursing Profession Subject

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study self-transformation before and after learning management by applying the concepts of contemplative learning integrated with problem-based learning. The sample group was a total of 11 second-year nursing students obtained by cluster random sampling. The research tools consisted of: 1. lesson plan which applying the concepts of contemplative learning integrated with problem-based learning 2. reflection record form. Data were analyzed by content analysis.


The results of the research revealed that nursing students had a change in themselves after learning management, which could be classified into 3 issues as follows: 1. The personal change was found in increased the knowledge and understanding of the content of the lessons and other areas including 1.1 communication skills which were speaking, listening, and reading, 1.2 assertive thinking skills, and 1.3 the ability to accept other people's opinions. 2. For group level changes there was a change in better teamwork skills and increased understanding of interpersonal differences and 3. For linking knowledge to practice it was found that nursing students were aware of the importance of the nursing profession in providing services to patients on ethical issues.
