Abstract

Thai society is presently an aging society, thus the community's preparedness for and care of the elderly must incorporate academic knowledge for good health, namely innovative proactive health services and social support for knowledge management, as well as providing health services to the public by primary professional nurses who work proactively in the community. Community nurses must have knowledge management skills in order to care for and promote the health of the elderly in a sustainable manner by integrating the concept of innovative proactive health services and social support into their duties. Based on the review and analysis of the literature, three guidelines for expanding the areas for transmitting innovation and the network of elderly innovators have been developed: 1) The guideline for developing innovative proactive health services for the elderly through the power and support of family i.e., spouse, children, grandchildren; 2) The guideline for developing innovative proactive health services for the elderly at the temples through support of society i.e., monks and devotees; and 3) The guideline for developing innovative proactive health services for the elderly at Tambon Health Promoting Hospitals through support of society i.e., health personnel at the hospitals and people who receive health services. As a result, a community nurse network, elderly innovators in the community, and sources of social support should be established to develop innovative proactive health services for long-term and continuous health promotion for the elderly in the community.
