Abstract

The research article aimed at investigating characteristics, current state, and problems of educational management in ethnically diverse schools along the lower northern border. The study employed a qualitative research method including documentary research. In-depth interviews were used to collect data with 50 relevant persons from schools. The obtained data were assessed by 5 experts.

From the study, the results are found as follows: 1) The characteristics of educational management along the border began with early school education in primary schools under the National Primary Education Commission of Ministry of Education. Presently, most schools offer only primary education, with only a few offering middle school education through opportunity expansion schools; 2) Access to educational opportunity, equality, educational quality, and educational management are the current state of educational management along the border, but none of these issues covers all areas and requires the involvement of school committees that are still not sufficiently qualified. Furthermore, the core and local curriculums utilized by schools to develop students are still ineffective and do not reflect the context of schools or communities along the border; and 3) Problems of educational management, such as policies, the promotion of educational management processes in the school system, education handled by other organizations, students and their families, will be solved if various agencies collaborate in the development of education along the border in order to build stability along the border for the country in the future.
