The Development of a Process for Enhancing Community Well-Being Based on Self Reliance

Abstract
The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to develop the process for enhancing the community well-being based on self-reliance; and 2) to suggest the guidelines for enhancing the community well-being based on self-reliance. The study used a qualitative research method by collecting data from an interview form, evaluation form, and the points for focus group discussion. The study was divided into the following stages: document analysis, interviews with leaders and community members who had demonstrated effective practice in the operation of well-being, in a total of 9 people from 3 communities; interviews with community leaders or those involved in the mobilization of well-being community, in a total of 17 persons; studying opinions by non-formal education experts, in a total of 8 persons. The obtained data were analyzed and presented in a descriptive manner on the processes and guidelines by drawing conclusions from the study results.
From the study, the following results have been found: 1) The process for enhancing the community well-being based on self-reliance consists of 6 steps as follows: the first step is to develop leaders who will drive the enhancement of well-being; the second step is to analyze and evaluate the situation of community well-being; the third step is to plan the enhancement of community well-being based on self-reliance; the forth step is to communicate the plan for enhancing the community well-being to the members of the community; the fifth step is to implement according to the plan of enhancing community well-being; and the sixth step is to conclude the outcome and reflect on the implementation, 2) The guidelines for developing the process of enhancing the community well-being based on self-reliance comprise as follows: the first aspect is to strengthen the volunteer leaders who work to improve the community well-being; the second aspect is to create a proactive operating strategy based on participation; the third aspect is to develop techniques for promptly, continuously, and consistently disseminating and transmitting important information to people in the area; the fourth aspect is to utilize the existing resources within the community for developing the community well-being; and lastly, the fifth aspect is to form co-learning partnerships with other organizations in the area where well-being activity is carried out.
