Constructing Appropriate Leadership Models for the Abbot in Sangha Administration: Grounded Theory Approach

Abstract
The objectives of this research are: 1) to Study the understanding of the components of leadership qualities in Sangha administration, and 2) to construct an appropriate leadership model for Sangha administration. The research adopted a qualitative approach, collecting data from relevant documents, participatory observations, and intensive interviews with key informants from six temples in Chaiyaphum province and the National Office of Buddhism, totaling 26 participants. The data is analyzed based on fundamental theoretical principles and presented descriptively.
The research findings indicated that 1) The leadership qualities in Sangha administration consist of 22 components, which include: 1. Loving kindness, 2. Self-awareness, 3. Determination, 4. Self-sacrifice 5. Self-Discipline 6. Intelligence 7. Sociability 8. Competency 11. Self-confident 10. Conceptualizing 11. Knowledge, skills 12. Initiative and Creativity, 13. Role-modeling, 14. Reconciliation, 15. Accountability 16. Decision making authority, 17. Task delegation, 18. Supportive advancement, 19. Societal value, 20. Balanced evaluation, 21. Intellectual stimulation, 22. Individualized consideration. 2) The appropriate leadership model for Sangha administration focused on education consisted of 14 components: 1. Charisma 2. Envision 3. Intelligence 4. Self-Esteem 5. Determination 6. Altruism 7. Emotional Maturity 8. Self-Awareness 9. Inspirational Motivation 10. Intellectual Stimulation 11. Individualized Consideration 12. Contingent reward 13. Empowerment 14. Building community relations. Additionally, the appropriate leadership model for Sangha administration focused on development and coordination with the community consisted of 14 components: 1. sociability 2. emotional Intelligence 3. equilibrium 4. charisma 5. sacrifice 6. integrity 7. openness 8. problem identification 9. conceptualization 10. effective communications 11. internalized moral perspective 12. balanced processing 13. relational transparency 14. give the work back to the people and 15. creating value for the community.
