Development of English Skill with Communications on Relations of Traditions, Rites and Believes from Local Literature

Abstract
This research article aims to achieve the following objectives: 1) to compare reading skills in English with cultural communication of local customs, beliefs, traditions, and religions, 2) to develop reading skills in local English literature, and 3) to examine the translation of meaning in local English literature using a sample group of 150 third-year students majoring in English from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Ubon Ratchathani University. The research employed a focused selection approach, and the research tools utilized include questionnaires, statistical analysis, mean percentage, and standard deviation.
The research findings indicate that: Reading skills in English and cultural communication of local meanings in English improved after the study, with a 100% increase. There were no instances of decreased scores among the students. The development of reading skills in English literature was generally high (mean = 3.72, S.D. = 0.62). The aspect with the highest average score was knowledge and understanding of the meaning of English literature (mean = 4.12, S.D. = 0.43). The study of the translation of meaning in English literature showed a high overall performance (mean = 4.02, S.D. = 0.60). The aspect with the highest average score was knowledge and understanding in translation (mean = 4.57, S.D. = 0.82).
