Abstract

This academic article aims to study the relationship between Buddhist governance and political management in Thai society. It has been found that political governance, characterized by coup d'états, from May 22, 2014, to the present, has had significant impacts on Thailand's administration. These impacts include economic repercussions, political instability, and the well-being of the population. The political context has transformed into a cycle of coups d'état that persists in Thai society. The root cause of the conflicts arises from power struggles and competing interests between two factions: the government and the politicians. Those who successfully seize power utilize it to allocate benefits and resources to themselves and their allies, disregarding the principles of good governance. Consequently, political governance lacks stability and effective administration due to the absence of fundamental principles, namely (1) the lack of legal morality, which entails clear regulations and codes of conduct, (2) the lack of moral integrity, as actions are not carried out with fairness based on moral and ethical principles, (3) the lack of transparency, as management practices are not disclosed to the public, (4) the lack of participation, as opportunities for public involvement and relevant organizations are not provided in decision-making processes, (5) the lack of accountability, as duties are not fulfilled to their fullest potential, and responsibility for the outcomes of one's actions is not taken, and (6) the lack of efficiency, as resource allocation is unlimited, inefficient, and fails to yield valuable results for the collective.
