Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the entrepreneurs’ demands for OTOP product packaging and 2) to explore the guidelines for developing an application and website in product packaging design. The study employed mixed-method research. The sample group included 120 OTOP entrepreneurs in Saraburi province who were chosen using Krejcie & Morgan table, as well as OTOP product experts, product packaging experts, and experts on application and website design, for a total of 17 persons. Purposive sampling was used to select the study area, which was the OTOP Center in the Phukhae Complex. The tools used for data collection were a questionnaire and interview form. The quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics which were frequency and percentage. The qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis.

From the study, it is found that OTOP entrepreneurs require new packaging designs that are beautiful, strong, easy to transport/carry and use, unique, modern, able to protect and see the product inside while also preserving nature. There must also be product design information and a product label. According to entrepreneurs, products intended for export overseas should have a Thai identity and be produced in a natural, clean, modern, simple, luxurious design with lovely cartoons. It would be especially helpful to have a smartphone and computer application to help with design. From exploring the guidelines for developing an application and website in product packaging design, it is revealed that an application must be capable of designing in a variety of shapes that are appropriate for the product style. The image size of a shape should be suitable and fast enough to process on the website. Font styles and sizes that are easy to read and modern should be available. The packaging pattern should be varied. The size and shape of the packaging should be considered when selecting the size and style of the product label. Lastly, an application must be simple to use.
