Temple Management Strategy for Community Strengthening in Nakhon Sawan Province

Abstract
This research aims to 1) study problems and factors related to temple management in building a strong community in Nakhon Sawan Province 2) develop a temple management strategy for building strong communities and 3) assess temple management strategies for building strong communities in Nakhon Sawan Province. This is a mixed method research. For the quantitative method, the questionnaires were distributed to the abbots, the abbot’s employees, temple committee, and community leaders, a total of 348 people. The data was analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. For the qualitative method, it included the interview of 10 people, focused group of qualified experts including 15 people both monks and lay people, then assessed and verify the strategy and presented the results with descriptive analysis.
The results of the research were as follows: 1. Problems of temple management in building a strong community in Nakhon Sawan Province, it was found that they lacked the information survey, plan, specific speciality, vision, and monitoring of the 6 aspects of mission of the monks. For other related factors in overall level is high. In addition, the planning, the organization management, leadership and control have not adjusted to be in line with the Buddhism Reform Strategic Plan. As for the factors related to the development of temple management in building a strong community in Nakhon Sawan, it was found that the abbot had skills, experience, remarkable educational background and vision that has been created to encourage monks and novices and personnel within the temple to get a good education. But still lack of modern materials and equipment, including the budget support from the government. 2. the development of the strategy for temple management in building a strong community in Nakhon Sawan Province, it is found that there were 1) enhancing the management efficiency of the temple development plan 2). collaborating within the networks for effective performance 3) developing a good governance system and 4) developing a process for controlling, supervising, monitoring and evaluating the measures of management to be effective and to meet the standards. 3. the assess of the development strategy of temple management in building a strong community in Nakhon Sawan Province, it is found that the vision, mission, goals, issues, strategies, indicators, measures were consistent, suitable, possible and useful.
