Title: Guidelines for Developing Educational Facilitation which is Consistent with Geo-culture: A Case Study of Highland School in Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to develop the quality assessment components in educational management of highland schools in accordance with geo-culture on a case study of highland schools in Chiang Mai Province; and 2) to investigate the effectiveness of highland school educational management in accordance with geo-culture. The study employed a mixed-method research approach, with 22 experts and specialists in the study of highland schools serving as the population and target group. The data were collected by focus group discussion and in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis, and each finding was presented in a descriptive manner.


            From the study, the following findings are found: 1) The development of quality assessment components in educational management of highland schools in accordance with geo-culture found that the most important thing is that educational management must take into account context, community, and ethnicity. Because they are a specialized group and can use the core curriculum, the learning curriculum and assessments that are in line with the context must be included. Schools can administer themselves with the community education committee taking part in the administration, emphasizing on specific criteria that are consistent with the context and developing ethnic students; 2) The effectiveness of highland school educational management in accordance with geo-culture is at different levels. All of these components are at a high level, in descending order: knowledge, basic skills, life skills, positive attitude toward occupation, and awareness of change, ability to apply knowledge to develop community and create innovation. Following that is the ability to think and calculate based on the maturity of the students, as well as the ability to communicate in local languages in order to improve Thai and English reading and writing skills. While the ability to use technology information and solve problems based on the students’ potential are at a moderate level, respectively.
