THE The Method of Reducing Hate Speech with the Process of Developing Creative Media "Innovative Board Games"

Abstract
This research aims to 1. study and develop the methods of reducing hate speech with the creative innovation of the board game development process and 2. study the result of reducing hate speech with the creative innovation of the board game development process. This research paper is participatory communication research in research. The samples used in this study were using Purposive Sampling. Participants in this research process were (1) the support team, which consists of faculty members in the Communication Arts Department, representatives from the Women and Men Progressive Movement Foundation (WMP), and representatives of alumni; and (2) the leading target group, which consists of students in Communication Arts, Code 60. They enrolled in the media literacy course for the 2019 academic year. The tools used for data collection were interviews and group discussions. The data Analyzing process through content analysis and development process for innovative game boards.
The results of the research were as follows: 1. The steps in developing innovative board games include: (1) the pre-production step comprises assigning a development project "innovative board game, mind-changing" words, the practice of empowerment to enhance the knowledge and understanding of violent words (hate speech), and the development of innovative board games. (2) The production process, which develops a board game, reduces students' hate speech, and (3) a trial run of the prototype. Post-production stages that evaluate and transcribe the lessons learned about hate speech. 2. This research found that students who participate in designing, creating, and playing board games show board game’s effectiveness. Students could reduce violent speech and become more aware of the importance of proper speech, especially speaking, beneficial and compassionate.
