Main Article Content
Abstract
The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study a model of research project funded by the government to study the enhancement of Thai labors’ economic status at the present, and 2) to provide suggestions for a research conceptual framework to enhance Thai labors’ economic status. The study employed a qualitative method research based on a multiple-case design, together with a research project on the development of labors and a support system to develop the potential as well as increasing Thai labors’ capacity to compete in order to be on par with the ASEAN standards, one of the 13 projects that have been previously funded by the government agencies. From the study, the following results are found: 1) The potential development to increase Thai labors’ capacity to compete in order to be on par with the ASEAN standards that took place during the year B.E. 2555 – 2559 is in line with the components of development to enhance the human resources, which includes the longevity with a good health (body), knowledge (wisdom), and the standard of the quality of life (economic status); 2) The enhancement of Thai labors’ quality of life or the economic status still has received little attention, and there has been no systematic allocation of research funding, despite the fact that such an issue is one of the components in developing human resources, and it is no less important than the issue of body and wisdom; and 3) The research conceptual framework to study the enhancement of Thai labors’ economic status should include the study on an increase in income, debt reduction, the enhancement or building of career standards, regional job market resources, an opportunity to access to funding, an access to the areas of living and working, the strength and ability to compete at an international stage, and the circulation of cash flows in and out of the country.
