Application Strategies on Information and Communication Technology for Education in Small-sized Primary Schools Under Office of the Basic Education Commission in The Northeast

Abstract

The research article aimed at developing the strategies for the application of information and communication technology for education in small-sized primary schools under Office of the Basic Education Commission in Northeastern region. The study applied descriptive research method. The data were collected by interviews with a group target of 7 experts and multiple case study with 3 schools. The research tools used for expert group meetings to determine content validity by calculating the Item Objective Congruence (IOC) Index between each question and the objectives.


From investigating the strategies for the application of information and communication technology for education in small-sized primary schools under Office of the Basic Education Commission in Northeastern region, the results found that there are 7 strategies, 30 projects/ activities, and 65 indicators which are: 1) Strategies for the management inside schools with 4 projects/ activities and 10 indicators; 2) Strategies for information technology infrastructure with 6 projects/ activities and 14 indicators; 3) Strategies on teaching and learning management with 4 projects/ activities and 8 indicators; 4) Strategies on learning process with 4 projects/ activities and 7 indicators; 5) Strategies on resources in learning management with 3 projects/ activities and 9 indicators; 6) Strategies for network cooperation in information technology with 5 projects/ activities and 9 indicators; and 7) Strategies for promoting and developing personnel with 4 projects/ activities and 8 indicators. All of this has gone through several stages of development and improvement, ensuring that the strategies, projects/activities, and indicators are appropriate and can be used to effectively manage information and communication technology in small-sized primary schools.
