Innovation of Integrated Economics Learning Management for Secondary School Students

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the learning management methods of integrated economics in social studies classes for the secondary school students; and 2) to propose the learning management innovation of integrated economics. The study employed a mixed-methods approach that included both quantitative and qualitative methods. A sample group used for the study was 11 secondary school students who enrolled in economics and chosen using purposive sampling. The tool used for the study was a questionnaire and the obtained quantitative data were analyzed by using frequency and percentage. The qualitative data were analyzed by inductive analysis.


From the study, the following results are found:


1) The learning management methods of integrated economics refer to the diverse instructional model which includes interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary. It is a model that connects learning units from many, related subjects to provide students with learning experiences based on their interests, abilities, and requirements. This will result in a change in students' intelligence, abilities, and minds, allowing them to apply knowledge and skills to solve problems on their own and to the utmost extent possible in their daily lives.


2) The learning management innovation of integrated economics for the secondary school students includes the following 3 aspects: (1) The instructional model that should incorporate activities such as career skills, case studies, questions, and etc; (2) The learning media and resources that should be diverse and used in schools and adjacent localities; and (3) Learning measurement and evaluation should include quizzes in both pre- and post-study evaluations. The quizzes should be used to determine whether or not students understand the class or not.
