Abstract

This Research “Leadership Development Process for Peaceful Organization According to Buddhist Peaceful Means : A Case Study Krungthai Bank Plc.” is a Research and Development (R & D) research aiming to develop a leadership development process for peaceful organization according to the Buddhist peaceful means. The study applied the integration between the modern science together with the Buddhist teachings and Buddhist peaceful means. The study began by studying the leadership development process in order to acquire the components of the development process for the desirable leaders by using in-depth interview with Krungthai’s managements and employees whom are the key stakeholder of Leadership development process, in order to achieve a practical leadership development process that would be able to enhance a peaceful organization effectively and efficiently. The study consisted of 3 objectives as follows: 1) to study the context and problems of leaders of Krungthai Bank Plc; 2) to study the leadership development process for enhancing a peaceful organization according to modern science and Buddhist peaceful means; and 3) to develop and present the leadership development process for enhancing a peaceful organization according to modern science and Buddhist peaceful means for Krungthai Bank Plc. The results of this research are as follows: 1) The leadership development process for peaceful organization is a process that takes time to develop and requires a continuous follow-up, which can be divided into 2 phases as follows: Phase 1 is the training courses based on the leadership development process for the peaceful organization according to the Buddhist peaceful means, under the framework of B-M-W-P-L-U-S Model in order to create a good leader with desirable characteristic and behavior, both externally and internally, which are (1) B - Behavior (2) M - Mindfulness (3) W - Wisdom (4) P - Peaceful Means (Buddhist) (5) L - Love and Metta (6) U - Understanding (7) S - Skill Sharpening. Phase 2 is to follow up and develop continuously in order to produce leader according to the expected goal. This leadership development process can be improved further based on learning from actual trials and evaluation of development achievement. 2) The leadership development process for a peaceful organization based on the Buddhist peaceful means must rely on cooperation whether from the leaders themselves who attend the development process, superiors, subordinates, colleagues, and the department responsible for organizational personnel development, in order to achieve effectiveness in the development process in every dimension. 3) From the trial with first-level leaders of the human resource and corporate governance group of Krungthai bank plc., it was found that after joining the process, the satisfaction level of the participants is equal to 4.70 out of 5.00 or 94.0% (Means = 4.75 and S.D. = 0.43) considering very high. As for the work behavior, most of the participants have improved their desirable behaviors in all aspects with a means equal to 4.24 out of 5.0 or 84.4% (Means = 4.51 and S.D. = 0.64). An innovation found from the study is based on the integration of modern science (western theories), Buddhist teachings, and the Buddhist peaceful means, in order to achieve a desirable leader who can enhance peace in the organization and in the society of the VUCA world. The 4 innovations that were found are (1) The Leadership Development Process for Peaceful Organization According to Buddhist Peaceful Means (2) The course outline, handbook, and development tools for enhancing the peaceful organization based on the Buddhist peaceful means (3) The training for developing leaders to enhance the peaceful organization based on the Buddhist peaceful means, and (4) The role model of a leader for a peaceful organization.
