Sports Development of Buriram Province as a Tourism City for Sustainable Community Economic Development

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to 1) study the environment of sports development in Buriram province to be a tourism city 2) investigate structures of the sport tourism city, and 3) study the management of Buriram province as a tourism city for sustainable community economic development. The qualitative research was applied by studying the document and in-depth interview. The researcher collected data by using a semi-structured in-depth interview technique from 5 key informants, and analyzed the data by content analysis.   


The researcher found that the environment of sport tourism city contributing to the changes of communities in Buriram province. They consisted of 1) the convenience of travelling to Buriram, such as accommodation, tourism attractions, restaurants, gift shops, and safety in travelling; 2) The structures of sport tourism city should have all kinds of sports that will enhance quality of life and give entertainment to all groups of tourists; and 3)  The guidelines for managing sport tourism city in the area of sustainable community economic development were various convenient services for tourists, such as travelling by many types of public transportation, shops and restaurants with reasonable price, and new tourist attractions that meet the needs of all groups of tourists.
